Nourish your Digestion for your Best You
When our digestion is working well, we have plenty of energy and feel good.
Our digestion is the center of our health. It makes all the difference between building a healthy body or developing imbalances in the body.
What we don’t digest and assimilate well turns into toxic acidic waste that the body then has to work hard to eliminate. This can cause bloating, constipation, skin issues, cravings, detox reactions, brain fog, and eventually nutritional deficiencies, food sensitivities, and inflammation throughout the body. A breakdown in digestion is often at the root of imbalances in the body.
The good news is – when you nourish your digestion, you can move quickly toward better health. When our digestion is healthy, we generally feel good.
Here’s 10 tips to help keep your digestion running smoothly:
- Stay Hydrated by drinking 5 – 6 glasses of pure water each day.
- Calm Yourself and Feel Gratitude – Take a moment before meals to let go of the stresses of the day and feel gratitude for your meal. Eat slow, maybe even pausing between each bite. We don’t digest well unless we are calm and relaxed. You’ll feel more satisfied and have more time to actually enjoy it.
- Digestive Bitters – Try some digestive bitter herbs to stimulate the manufacture of your own digestive enzymes. I use testing to provide personalized recommendations for my clients.
- Digestive Enzymes -Take just before the last bite or two of your meal.
- Walk – Take a gentle walk after eating. It can help stabilize blood sugar, and increase gut motility and blood flow.
- Fiber – Get plenty of fiber in your diet by eating lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, beans and apples.
- Fermented Foods – Include fermented foods to maintain healthy gut flora.
- Finish Early – For best sleep and assimilation, your last meal of the day ideally should be light, cooked and finished by 6PM.
- Seasonal Eating keeps us in tune with nature and is best for the body.
